Confused about mounts

Hey guys,

I am about to get the Letus XL and it comes with either the swapable canon/nikon mount or the nikon metal mount. My first question is, what is the difference from the obvious that one uses canon/nikon and one uses just nikon lenses? My second question is, what series of nikon/canon lenses are compatible with the mount? And also what lenses would you recommend?

Thanks

I believe that only the Letus FE comes with a swapable mount. I think that the Xtreme comes with your choice of 1 mount. Canon FD, Canon EF, Nikon, PL, Pentax K, Monalta MD,

The compatable lens are annotated by the mount name. Canon FD's Will fit the Canon FD, Canon EF, will fit the EF, Nikon Etc.

The PL Mount is a mount for cinema lenses like Arri.

Nikon/Canon is typically the big decision for budget minded film makers. The PL Lens's are vary expensive and the Nikon/Canon seem to have the widest selection in the second hand market.

The simplest selection method would be what SLR lenses do you have now? If the answer is non here are a few of my humble opinions on Nikon/Canon.

Nikon Mount is very consistent through the Years with Nikon

Canon FD mounts have a few variations on how the lens locks to the mount.

Also some Canon FD require a very simple hack to get the aperture to operate on a 35mm adapter.

The Canon FD lenses are much cheaper to obtain second hand than the Nikon.
