Configuring H4N Volumes on Inputs

Hi All,

I'm using a H4N for weddings, and what I need to do is adjust the inouts to different levels.

For instance input one has a Rode Mic and input two has a lapel mic. I am almost 100% sure I was doing this before but recently when I select the inout when adjusting rec volume both inputs are being adjusted?

What am i doing wrong? or am I completely imagining the fact I used to adjust them seperatly?

Thanks for any help.

Sean.

Under menu, input, there is an option to link channels. You have to say off to set levels separately. The onboard mics will always be linked though. I have been trying to do some M/S recording in stereo with the H4n and I believe it requires that you link levels on both channels in order to use that function.

Cheers,
Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks for that. I can't see any link option under input. I have the following settings

LO CUT - both mic + input set to off
COMP/LIMIT - both mic + input set to off
MONITOR - off
LEVEL AUTO - off
MS MATRIX - off, midlevel 0.00, side level 0.00, source mic, ch setting lch=mid rch=side
PHANTOM - off
PLUG-IN - off

Cant find linking of channels anywhere, your help is really appreciated.

Cheers

Sean.

Mine has the 1/2 LINK right under MONITOR.

Just for reference, what firmware under System => Version is yours running?

Mine says:
System :1.72
Boot:1.01

Gotta love it when they are different, LOL!!!

Cheers,
Pete

They introduced that function as a firmware update. You need to update.
