confession time for mino

Mino

Northern Dreamer
Well boys and girls, it’s confession time. You all know me as mino. I am a recovering alchoholic. Last night I fell off the wagon after 4+ years of sobriety. I could blame it on my buddy who came over in a festive mood and told me “just one dude” but I am ultimately responsible for my own destiny. So I had one and another and….well I got messed up. I am told, and the evidence is plain before me, that I got a bee in my bonnet when John Hudson told me to scale down my signature (somewhere in screen grabs and clips of DVX footage…Green screen something) So smart boy here scaled down his whole deal, user profile and all. This is why I quit drinking in the first place. So now it’s day one again, and day one on the board. I missed you all so much I signed back in as “emigrant” I hope you all can accept this stupid mistake and accept the new “BRONZE” me. Trying hard to get all the links to old posts back up. The juice is a beeeaaaatch… Sorry my friends. Mino errr emigrant. PS and I had to pull this stunt right in the thick of the “young filmer” episode.

ps And under no circumstances am I blaming John Hudson who is a super mod as are all.

Re: confession time for mino

I will gladly step up and say it takes courage to admit what your saying, I tremendously respect you for it. We are here for you man.

Re: confession time for mino

Peace.

Thanks for telling us you reincarnated, I would have wondered, eventually.

All the best-

Not cool - Sorry this happened :(

Re: confession time for mino

That is a big step. I can say that is a tough step to take. Good for you and your courage. It is really nice to know that this place means enough to you to swallow your pride and admit that to folks who only know you through your typed thoughts. I wish you stability and patience on your journey. And am very glad you came back. Welcome.

Re: confession time for mino

Thanks guys for the support. it's hard to type damn it when your eyes are full of tears. It's an uphill battle for sure and every battle has it's losses. This was a loss for me. But I know enough not to dwell on it, fess up and keep on toward the goal that keeps this hideous monster at bay. The monster took a bite and got a liitle piece of me, but that monsters got a lot of chompin to do before he takes me out cos I'll fight the bugger right till the end. This place has come to mean a lot to me and I'll be damned if that monster is going to deprive me of that.

Re: confession time for mino

Took tons of courage to post this, and I applaude you for it. We're here for ya buddy.

Re: confession time for mino

For a lot of people, addiction is a concept they will never fully understand until they accept the fact that man’s only plan of assurance lies in self-destruction. Success and failure are goals that dart in and out of our grasp throughout our lives, but destruction of the self is the only project man can undertake without risk.

Courage, in my tiny little world, shows when a person strives beyond the safety of guarantees. It shows when a person lives in the reach, not in the goal, and most of all…it shows in the moments after the failure, not the steps before.

The depths to which we fall, and the heights to which we rise are ultimately singular events. For those that matter, it is our perseverance that will come to define our life.

Believe that you can live well, have faith that your strength will pick you back up, and trust that you are not alone.

Re: confession time for mino

A buddy doesn't do that to you. I applaud you for taking responsibility, but after decades of being involved with addictions and recovery I know that you need to stay away from people like that. The next time somebody says "just one", throw them the hell out. For you, just one drink is like just one bullet for somebody else.

Find a real friend, or a pro.

One Day At a Time Brother. You've got guts

Re: confession time for mino

Some people just genuinely don't understand, some people just genuinely don't care.

Re: confession time for mino

Hey man, we all have our weakness points...
Mino/Emigrant...after 4 years...completely clean...I had a cigerette at a party...and another...and another...
But now I'm clean again, and I know when I have to fight the hardest...
Don't give up...You're better than that...We're here for you.

True. It's not always malicious. But the end result is the same. Recovering is as much about changing the way you live as it is not drinking. If you stop drinking (or whatever) but nothing else changes, you are a "dry drunk" and it's only a matter of time.

Re: confession time for mino

Welcome Emigrant. It's a constant struggle getting from the person you are to the person you want to be. We all stumble off the path from time to time. Nothing else to do but pick yourself up and keep walking.

Re: confession time for mino

Mino/Emigrant-

I agree, a real friend or buddy would not even make the offer to you. If you had four years under your belt, then you know the road ahead. If a day is too long, take it an hour or a minute at a time, but take it. We are all here for you.
