Coneheads (1993)

Recently stumbled on this one after a good decade of not seeing it and forgot how truly decent of a comedy it was. Very underrated SNL film IMHO. Anyone else here fans? I think it has a bit of cult following now.. wished their was a behind the scenes doc about it.

I love that movie. Both for the rapid pace of verbal and visual gags, but also for the family values honestly. Great film

It's a bookmark for me if only because it was the last big Hollywood movie to use good old fashion stop motion animation for the creature at the end of the film.. Stop motion never got a fair shake after that, or a platform in the movies where it was used transitionally with modern digital compositing techniques and motion tracking and digital age what-not... no, it was ditched completely for mostly sub-standard CGI creature effects (looking at you, Deep Rising, Evolution, etc.)

Stop motion master Jim Danforth once said, "The strength of stop motion is not that it's super realistic, but that it has style."

Amen! Puppets, Robots and Stop Motion will always be better than CGI
