Computer Image looks ugly, TV image looks perfect

I captured some dvx100 footage, and it looks great on TV, highly saturated with perfect colors. When captured, the image looks like crap. Its very grainy, looks like a crappy camcorder image. Though when i preview it with an extrenal monitor, it looks perfect. What is going on?

I want to render this as a video file so i can send it to my friends, but it looks horrible on the computer screen. i tried searching for similar topics, but cant' find any.

What preview mode are you using? Draft mode will look like crap.

2- When exporting to a web streaming format, you should convert from studioRGB color space to computer RGB. To do this:

Nest your .veg into a new project.

Use the Color Corrector preset for studio RGB to computer RGB conversion. Apply it at the video preview FX level (well what level doesn't really matter). In the file render as dialogue, uncheck the "maintain aspect ratio" box.

thing is when i'm seeing it being captured it already looks crappy on my monitor. however on my camcorder lcd viewer it looks perfectly fine. whats the deal?

on the TV it looks more saturated, sharp, more of a commercial-feel look to it. when i'm viewing it being captured on my computer monitor, it looks very grainy, less color to it, and just looks crappy.

The capture preview is just a reference so you can see where you are in the process. It is not meant to be a quality preview. You can preview in good quality once it’s on the timeline, but even then it will never look like it will on your TV because of the differences between a computer monitor and a TV (e.g., different color spaces, interlacing, etc.) That’s why Vegas allows you to preview to a TV out the firewire port. This is the only preview you can trust will look like the final product.
