Computer ignoring my DVX

Well my wife is out of town witht the camera I use as a deck and I had to capture some footage into FCP. (I know, I know the camera will never forgive me). All worked fine. I packed up my camera after I was done, then realized I needed to capture one more thing. Back out comes the baby, but alas it is a no go. FCP will not reconize the camera's presence, I tried all types of other firewire options none would work for the camera (exernal drives sill working fine). I even brushed the dust off of Imovie, and even the pipsqueek had no love for the DVX. I have only one mini firewire cable with me right now( but it moved all of about ten feet, as did the camera). I am at a loss. Plus I have some work that needs to get done quite soon. Any help for a lost soul out in the Tundra! Thanks.

Re: Computer ignoring my DVX

Isnt there another 'port' to connect firewire to with a Mac? (2 options?). Why do I remember my boy 'exfilms' having to so just this thing. ???

Re: Computer ignoring my DVX

Could it be you have a fryed port in your camera? try her in other computers, just to be sure.

Does your FCP gives you the "no device connected" waring at startup?

Re: Computer ignoring my DVX

I thought of the fryed port, the thing is it worked anhour earlier. That is crazy. That is the FCP warning I get. Once again I tried it in Imovie too. I will try a new cable later today, and or another computer. Dang!
