I have a cable I can't identify. On one end, it is a USB, the other end looks almost identical to an Ethernet plug, but it won't fit into any of my Ethernet ports. Any ideas what it might be?

Like I said, the one side is a USB. The other is identical to an Ethernet, except it apparently has a couple extra pins, which is why it wouldn't fit the port. As best as I could see them, I'd say there are ten contacts.

Do you have an APC UPS? They use a cable like that to get data from the UPS.

Ah! That might be it! Thanks Jeff! I was wondering where it came from, and just couldn't place it. I was hoping it was indeed a USB to Ethernet, because I have a laptop with a blown Ethernet, but I need to connect it to the other PCs.
