Computer Audio Interface

I currently have a Tascam US-122 which will be functioning as my digitsal to analogue converter. Tascam tech Support told me that by setting it to Line I physically bypass the internal pre-amps so it shouldn't color my sound. If that is in fact true I still have the (big/small?) detriment of only having RCA out to my self powered Event 20/20's (arriving Friday/Monday!!!)

I also own a MixPre which I use for my HVX and boom-op monitoring.

So I was not going to worry about my Tascam for a while as I am broke :) but I just got the Winter '08 B&H catalogu!e... It is a ProAudio issue!!
So I couldn't possibly hold back and I opened it, SMAK right in my face was the "Computer Audio Interface" section staring back at me... it was love at first sight... a promiscous type of love I must confess as there is so much that looks so sexy, lol...

Anyhho... for those still reading my babble:

Should I consider the USBPre from Sound Devices and purchase it by selling both the Tascam and the MixPre?
It seems the only bad thing about it might be that it is 1.1USB only but my Tascam is too... so would this be a way to extend the benefit of the great SD pre-amps over to my editing station? (I have to take a closer look at the specs, but I would never be able to interpret them the way you guys can so I ask for your help)

oh crap... is there really no battery compartment or power plug?!?!?

just USB? man they are killing me!

please tell me I am missing something other than just the patience to look before posting
