Compressor won't submit

Having just installed FCS2, I tried to export from FCP to Compressor, but after prepping, when I hit submit I received this message:

"Please restart your computer or verify your Compressor installation is correct."

I tried the first, didn't work. I don't know how to do the second.

Any ideas?

I considered a reinstall, but in the installation window, Compressor says 'O bytes.' Maybe I have to trash and delete Compressor, I'd only trashed it before.

best,

Have you done a Software Update? I was having a lot of Compressor problems simlar to yours and they were fixed with the new update they released for FCS last week.

Run Software Update once to get the Pro Application Update, then again to get the FCS update.

I had this problem and doing a complete reinstall of FCS 2 did not solve it. What finally worked for me was this: I deleted the Compressor and Qmaster applications and package receipts from my hard drive and then used Pacifist (a free package-installer utility) to install the Compressor and Apple Qmaster packages from my FCS 2 installer disks. I had the installer replace (rather than update) all components when a dialogue appeared asking me to choose. I then updated to 3.0.1, restarted, and Compressor began working properly. I have my fingers crossed that it will continue to work. This may or may not work for you, but I tried everything else I could think of without success.

There is a long thread on this problem on the Apple forums, with other fixes that worked for some people.

Thanks much for the info.

Though I tried installing "AppleQmasterNode.mpkg" and now Compressor doesn't even start up. O cricky! After reinstalling Compressor still won't start up! How do I un-install the AppleQmasterNode.mpkg?

I'm now re-installing. I see the receipts folder in the Library. Just curiously,
can one delete all these receipts, or are they necessary for running? And if not deleted will it affect the re-installing? (Sorry, I'd gone to that Apple thread and while re-installing came back here.)

thanks,

I had the same problem and I just went through that thread mentioned by kwoff:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=984451&tstart=-1

The solution that worked for me was in there, and it was the following:
"Setting up your Quickcluster isn't a big deal. Go to the Systemsettings > Apple Qmaster > turn on Compressor Services in there > switch to QuickCluster with Services > and start. That's it."

Easy and I hope this helps others as well.
