Compressor Shuts Computer Off PLEASE HELP

So I a using compressor, exporting out of Final Cut. And the computer just shuts off. This only happens when using compressor. It gets half way done, sometime 3/4 and sometime 1/4 and just shuts off

Has anyone had this problem, and how did you fix it.
Thank you so much for any help. I would be very helpful as I am sitting here pulling my hair out.

yeah I am putting the files right on the desktop. I figure that should be enough since it is my hard drive.

I edit with a scratch disk, a external drive.
 
Assuming you've tried the usual suspects -- repair permissions, run Diskwarrior, etc. -- you might want to try reinstalling Compressor, especially if it used to work OK with your current setup.
 
Do you have 3rd party RAM? (i.e. ANY RAM not purchased directly from apply)

If you do, leave in everything but 2 mac sticks paired and try again.
