Compressor Question

This week I am making a camp video. the dvd is burned on thursday night so time is of the essence.

I will be burning on 4.7gb 120min discs

I will have about 100min of footage

I need this footage highly compressed as photos will also be added to the dvd(in pure data form)

my menu says it is about 280mb

i exported my first video tonight to compressor and used the 120min best quality encode. the file ended up being just under 500mb for a 13 min movie

would compressor make the file size smaller if i used the 90 min fastest encode?

if someone could throw me some advice i would greatly appreciate it. i dont have time to re-encode over and over to find the right size...

please please help me lol

There's a REASON the presets give you time limits. 90 minutes will compress your video so if you had 90 minutes it would 'fill' the dvd... same for 60 and same for 120. So... stands to reason that if you've got 100 minutes your preset of 90 will NOT work and your preset of 120 will give you a little room left for photos and extended menus.

Yes?

The presets are fine for a quick output, but there are several factors that are ignored by them. Gooogle DVD-HQ bitrate calculator and this will help you A LOT!!!

yea thanks guys, i kind of figured it out for myself last night. i did the preset for 120min video, but instead of having it at 5mbps i changed it to 2mbps. quality is acceptable and size is great.
