Compressor output has pixellated flashes (from 5d MK II and Final Cut Pro)

Hi all,
Shot some scenes in standard def on Canon 5d MK II. Set to PAL, but no firmware update, so the frame rate is "30".
Edited in final cut, allowed final cut to match the sequence settings to the clip settings.
Output through compressor: "Best quality DVD under 60 minutes", which exports NTSC 29.97.
The result was a weird pixellated flash every second or so on the exported .m2v.
But it's only on the last chapter, which was a different clip. Don't think anything's different about that clip either.
Any ideas?

I have seen this a lot when using .m2v files. The strange thing is that some cameras do this, some other don't.
I sugest you try some other kind of codecs ou other profiles.

I tried exporting from Final Cut, using Custom export, then brining that into compressor. It worked, the pixellated flashes are gone... but when I bring it into DVD studio pro... the edges of objects look all funny during any movement... and the actual exported .m2v file isn't like that.
How can I stop DVD studio pro from making this m2v all "funny edged"?

Sounds like the typical poor rate control on Apple's MPEG2 encoders.

There's multiple threads here regarding alternatives. I'm not sure if MPEG Streamclip encodes MPEG2, but FFMPEGX can to my knowledge. Windows tends to have more MPEG-2 options.
