Compressor not encding WAV files

I used my Zoom H4n recorder for the first time. Dragged the 16bit/48z WAV files into the FC timeline, synched them up and was able to output a QT movie from within FC. Audio plays fine.

My problem: compressor won't work on the either the QT file or the FC project to compress it into other formats (such as for Vimeo). It creates a shell file which generates a "format not supported message"

WTF? I have a base QT file that plays. Why won't it compress it? Is it because of the WAV files? I've read that some people convert them to AIFF, but others say it's unnecessary.

If I must convert to AIFF what's the quickest route to do that?

I work with the same thing, and haven't run into this issue.

Did you change your sequence settings to WAV? I leave it on AIFF and it works fine.

You shouldn't need to convert the audio to AIFF, but there are several free utilities that will do it, or just use itunes and change the import settings to aif 48k.

Thanks Tim. I think it's a laptop issue. There was no progress in compressor for about 10 mins each time I tried. Not even the progress bar. And then the finished product appeared without warning after I walked away and came back.
Maybe I'll ask someone here at NAB if they know what causes that.
