compressor: 'Frame Controls' tab doesn't work for deinterlace or other

Just as the title says, my 'Frame Controls' tab in compressor does nothing. I have to deinterlace in the Filters tab, but the manual says that I should be using Frame Controls instead. Unfortunately the Frame Controls tab has no effect, otherwise I would listen to my manual and not use the Filters tab for deinterlace.

What causes this? I'm using Compressor 2.0.1.
 
It works in Vers. 2.3

You cannot see the effect in the Preview window.

To test, put In and Out points about a second apart
and render that. On my system 47 frames took over a minute
at best quality.
 
I found that the problem still exists with Compressor 3.5.3. Took a long time to find this thread. Thanks. No mention that the preview window DOES NOT display deinterlace correction with Frame Controls On that I can find in the Apple Compressor Forums. Did the test suggested above, and yes, it works. Went with the DI default, Better (Motion adaptive) and checked Adaptive Details. When I compare the sample clips (filter di with frame controls di) in QuickTime, can't really see the difference, but I'll take Apple's word for it.
