Compression?

Hi guys

Could some one enlighten me on this question please?

If I shoot 1920x1080 25p (PAL on the HVX200), then ingest into FCP,
am I right in thinking the compression settings on the sequence settings have to be, urm.. I think it is DVCpro 50 (off the top of my head)?

Or can it be set it to an uncompressed compression and still export into DVDSP to burn a DVD which can be played in mac and or DVD player? (That would be a standard DVD)

I was thinking that (and I might be wrong here) that an uncompressed compression would be of a better quality???

Hope all that makes sense

Cheers

Uncompressed is not going to give you better quality. It simply gives you a bigger "container" to work in which can be beneficial for heavy color correction, effects, compositing, etc.

If you want to work in the native format of your camera, then you need to capture and work in DVCPro HD. Alternatively, you could capture to and work in Apple ProRes 422 which is like working in an uncompressed format but at a fraction of the file size. But you need a good system and FCP6 for that.

DVCPro 50 is an SD format, so unless you want to go directly to SD right from the start, you don't want to use it.

My bad...
Yup DVC PRO HD... just checked your right 'cools'..thanks

So basically I've got the settings correct for the format I have captured in ie captured in 720PN 25 p and the settings are DVC Pro HD
