Hi. I just directed my first commercial and we used the hvx200. We shot on 720p and it looks really crisp in any export but whenever I upload it you youtube it looks like it was shot on a $100 camera. Does anyone have any advice on export settings for youtube? Thanks for your help.

Here's the link. It's the default video.

YouTube re-compresses pretty much everything that is uploaded. So, when it comes to "good compression" that is never going to be possible. However, When you upload a super high quality video you can see the high quality version with an Apple TV.

I have heard that uploading an flv file will work, but I'm guessing they have a threshold algorithm of the size per minute of video. This means that if you're above say 2 MB per minute, it will recompress. So if you try compress the hell out of it before sending, it may allow you to evade the evil re-compression empire and all of its beowulf clusters (just a guess about the beowulf clusters).
