Compression to memory stick for autoplay help needed.

Hi,

We have produced a video for a client, filmed in a mixture of XDCAM 720p 1080p 25fps.

The client wants the 5 minute video to autoplay on 1GB memory sticks.

What is the best method of compression to achieve this without users having to download additional software?

I am aware that not all users will have QT installed.

Thanks

Whenever this question gets asked I always have to ask back a few questions:

  • Does it have to be a USB memory stick? Can you put this video on a website and save money?
  • Autorun is no longer an option Windows Vista and 7. There is no "Automatically run the software" functionality like there was in Windows XP.
  • Autoplay works differently on Mac and PC. Will there be anybody on the mac trying to watch this video?
  • You can't really autoplay a file on a mac, all you can do is mount the folder on their desktop.
  • If you're trying to retain customers at a trade show, get their email and then give them a cheaper gift. You can send them the video via an email link and get a better return on your investment and more people to view the video in an enviroment where they will most likely listen to your message.

If you're still 100% convinced that handing out videos on a USB Drive is going to be the best way to deliver your message, you can read some howtos online about creating your own autorun for Windows based machines.
