Compression options with 4 broadcast...

So, what type of software would I need and would work with Edius Broadcast 4 to compress stuff to h264 or mpeg 4 for example?

Other than the 400 something dollar sorenson (which would be a purchase to make later on), are there other options? Will I be able to do the h264 in quicktime pro for example without having to first convert to some lower quality format.

The point being to have the highest quality possible in a decent file size for uploading to my website, or archiving, etc.

Taking my dvcpro hd footy out to h264 or mpeg 4 kinda thing.

Not too familiar with the whole compression stuff.

I haven't seen these particular options in the 4 trial, maybe in broadcast?

Hi Jason,

Potentially you can use any encoder you want, QT Pro included. You'd just need to make an intermediate output file from EDIUS. To keep the quality from being hit, I'd output as Uncompressed AVI, some good QuickTime compressor like RGB or Apple Video, Canopus Lossless AVI, or Canopus HQ AVI. Then take that resulting (huge) file to whatever compressor you want to use.
