Compression in DVD SP

Hello,

I am creating a DVD of a 30 minute program. I export the timeline from FCP as uncompressed QuickTime (comes out to be around 6 GBs) then import it into DVD SP. When I build & burn the DVD, the whole thing comes out to be around 1.5 GBs.

Since I have approximately 3 more GBs on a 4.7 GB DVD, how can I set DVD SP so that it does not compress so much? I would like to preserve as much of the DV quality as possible (and compress it as little as possible).

Thank you so much!

DVD standard maxes out at 9.8 megabits per second.

Even this bitrate calculator that recommends not to go over 8mbps still gives a max filesize of 1758Megabytes for video and 330 megabytes for Audio (PCM 1.5Megabits per second)

I would still recommend 2-pass video encoding for all video when you want the highest quality.

You could do an average of 8,000Kbps , max at 9,000Kbps and get your audio in AC-3 384K/s so you wouldn't go over the max bitrate limit.
