Hey everyone,

I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem but to no success. I have about a 2min video that I have produced in HDV and have been exporting to Youtube and I have been having a terrible resolution!

When I import it the HD function works and the HD looks great but many users dont click HD and I want the picture to look pretty decent without the HD function on, but the video footage looks so horrible and pixilated.

Is there anyway to achieve a decent look when the HD function is not on?

Im exporting in FCP, and have been exporting with h.264 with a bit rate at 5000. Any other suggestions? :(

Make sure you're exporting 1280x720. Youtube will not HD anything other than that specific resolution.

Up your bitrate to 8,000Kbps for video, to retain your quality. 8,000 is a minimum. Go higher if you can upload a bigger file.

Make sure you export to a .mp4 container. I know Youtube claims to accept .mov files but I've never tried it before.

That should get you started. If you're still lost, check out my Youtube encoding thread.
