Ive never exported a fcp file to the web. What is the necessary procedure to ensure proper resolution, sound, etc. Please provide a detailed description of which format to use along with any configurations that will enhance the quality.
If one of my movies that you are looking at is in a "true" 16:9 format on the web, then I shot it using squeeze. If it's widescreen (as some of them are) then I used a matte to make it letterbox.
I never use the letterbox setting in my DVX and then upscale it in FCP. I always shoot squeeze or normal 4:3.
Skampi - once you've tried this a few times you can experiment with different codecs for different sizes and quality levels... for instance, using the same method CaptainMench described, I like making mpeg4 files for client preview and usually put out DivX files for web distribution. There's presets for iPod ready vids or tons of other useful codecs (h.264, DV streams, etc.)
i'm working with skampi on this project, it's actually for herofest and i've exported plenty of projects for dvd format, but never for the web as well. Is there any size preference you all could suggest? After compression, what are the necessary steps to get it on a website (again any you suggest)? thanks again.
