Comprehensive insurance

Has anyone here ever had to buy comprehensive insurance in order to shoot on public property? If so, any rough estimates as to what a $1 million policy for a simple production (no effects, stunts, etc.) might cost?

Hi Dave,

Well, it will depend on the type and length of shoot, but for $1M, it sounds like at least a several hundred to me (I assume you're talking in the U.S. ) For event insurance lasting 10 days or less, you might check out this site - the type of shoots that don't keep underwriter's awake at night.

Excellent! Thanks Moonlitnite! Yep, I'm hoping to keep my shoot simple -- no effects, no stunts, etc. This is just so I can get assistance from the local film commission -- they require insurance for help with locations.
