compositing 2 shots together

Ok I am pretty much a newb with after effects (I know some basic stuff but not much of anything else), so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction on what I want to do.

I have a shot of me standing in the middle street, then I have another shot of a car driving by. Now I want to composite these two together so it looks like I get hit by the car. Basically I don't know where to start with this. Any help and guidance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you use a blue/greenscreen for either of the shots? If not you will HAVE to go in and remove the background frame by frame. Also, what version are you using?

Ok, good to hear you're using 6.5 pro. It comes with a great keying capabilities.

That said it looks like you are going to have to go in and "rotoscope" out the backgroud of one of the pieces of footage (ie remove by hand). Did you move the camera in either of these shots or was the camera locked off? A moving camera will make the process much more complex.

I personally have never had to do this by hand so I'm afraid I can't be of much help. Others here though, I am sure, can tell you precisely how to do it - and do it with maximum efficiency. Try googling "rotoscoping premiere 6.5" or similar and see what you can come up with. I know there are some great tutorials out there.

Thanks for the replies. The camera was in the same position for both shots. Off to google I go...thanks again.
