Completely Uninstalling Vegas 8 Problem

Hey guys, I uninstalled Vegas 8 and deleted all of its Registry Information and stuff and I only have Vegas 7 installed, but all of the project icons still says it's associated with Vegas 8. Even if I change what it opens with, it doesn't use the Vegas 7 thumbnail. What the heck! This is getting me so ticked off. I just want Vegas 8 totally completely out of my system, no memory of it at all!

Try to contact Sony from their web site.

When I first bought Vegas 7 and before I found these forums, I had a question about not being able to see on my monitor what I was transferring from my camcorder. They answered within days.

Well, it being a trial explains why you couldn't render as MPEG-2. It's not available in the trial version due to MPEG licensing issues.

maybe try forcing a rebuild of your icon cache? one way to do it is to downgrade your color quality in display properties/settings to 8 or 16bit, then switch back up to 32.

there are apps like tweakui that perform icon rebuilding.

Hey Gaz I tried Tweakui. It's a pretty cool program, but those Vegas 7 projects still say that it's associated with Vegas 8 when it's not. It's not even a thumnail problem. It's telling the project how it opens. I can change it by rich clicking and going into properties but it always goes back. This is so annoying! I feel like wiping my hard drive but I don't want to do this!

Look, this is what i get. Notice how it says Vegas 7 but no icon. Only the backup files have the right thumnails but the other projects always goes back to Vegas 8.
