Competition from the Next Generation

I just wanted to reassure all of you that are worried about the next generation of filmmakers. I was at my Son's kindergarten graduation today. There were about 50 children all together, and they each told the audience what they wanted to be when they grow up. Not one of them wanted to be a filmmaker. So it seems like it will be wide open field in future, if we use that as a statistical model. Of course if you want to be a fireman or a princess, that's a different story.

Yeah, I applied to Prince school, but that long internship as a frog really turned me off....

Pookie, PK - you guys are sick, but in a good way...
VJ - think back to when you were in Kindergarten.....did you even know that people "made" movies?
Ask those same kids when they are in highschool and I bet it will shift a bit. At least not as many wanting to be police or firemen....

By the time these kids get into high school, they will be shooting 3gbs, 4:4:4:4, 3840 X 2160 24fps RGB images on their cell phones and sending them to all their friends. They will all want to design the latest, 3D video games, which surpassed movies way back in 2010....

... "I heard Gran Pa talk about movies, OH MY GOD... they had to sit still for 2 HOURS to watch them!!! SHAAAAA!!!"

You know... spelling is a lost art today, thus the demise of written English. By the time these kids graduate from HS, story telling will be a lost art and video will consist of reruns and remakes. Their vision of the world will be whatever can be explained in 30 seconds or less.

Boy am I cranky tonight.
