company's Logo...

When editing a commercial how do you get the companies Logo on the screen? Do they send you something that you drop in and do like a KEY effect to have it show up over video? I am sure the larger companies may be able to do this but what about small local companies/stores? I wouldn't want to have to re-create their logo.

Most times they've hired a graphic artist to create that logo. Ask them for the file, and hopefully it'll have an alpha channel. If it doesn't, you can erase everything you don't need in Photoshop.
Then import into FCP and it should work fine.

If they don't have a file, try taking a hi-res digital still of the logo, then erase the background in photoshop. A cheap solution, but it can work.
