Compact Flash Association announces XQD card format

The Compact Flash Association announced a new card format, called XQD. About the length and width of an SD card but as thick as CF, they promise actual write speeds of 125 MB/sec. (1 Gbps) or more.

* whatever happened to CFast and its 300 MB/s maximum theoretical speed (exactly like this new thing)
* SD has a theoretical maximum speed of 50 MB/s (400 Mbit/s), with UHS-II going up to 312 MB/s too; just make aluminium-case SD cards and forget about everything else; you're welcome
