Commiting to a cut and beeps for sound cutting?

Alright I'm near the end of a short docu and I've cut all my b-roll stuff on v2 above the interviews on v1 to see how it works. Can I burn a dvd of it this way and get what I'm seeing in fcp, or do I have to drop my b-roll stuff down into the v1 track and commit to it first?

I'm planning to split my dialogue across four tracks, efx four tracks, amb. 4 tracks, and music 4 tracks to leave as much room as possible for the mixer. But where in fcp do I find myself beeps to put as sync marks at the beginning and ending of my tracks. Where do I find a countdown to put on my pix?

Finally when finished with my soundcutting I export it onto cd in omf for tweaking and mixing in pro-tools correct? Is a cd okay or is it better to go to dvd?

No, just export the Seqeucne. Everything in that Sequence, as it's rendered in the Timeline window, as you see it, exports as one solid, edited video file.

I'm now using SoundTrack Pro (Send To, as an STP Multitrack Project) to do all my FCP mixing. Very powerful, the most under used, unkown about app in the Suite.

You'd use Score Markers in your FCP Timeline window for sync. Each Score Marker can have it's own name, notes, etc, and STP will bring them in with all that info, too. Using Score Markers, you don't need the beeps.

Pro-Tools is now overkill for mixing, fixing, sweetening. For what 90% of my consulting clients and students do, STP is more than powerful enough to do the job.
