So I've convinced a client that I'm the right one to produce their local commercial. Now I need to meet with them to discuss the contract. The trouble is I have no clue what the contract should look like. They've agreed it will be in the 3-5k range with 50% up front and 50% upon delivery. I've got lots of experience on the production end, but not much on producing. Does anybody have any suggestions or any sample commercial contracts I can look at? I've got a meeting with them in the next couple of days.

Feel free to PM if you don't want your production secrets to go to your competition. (I'm in Northern California)

Thanks,

Feel free to PM me and I could send you a sample contract.

Regardless of what is paid up front, it needs to be enough to cover your hard costs going into production. Generally I do 1/3 down, 1/3 upon completion of principal photography and the balance on delivery. That way, crew and talent for the shoot are happy in the case there is a delay in post for any reason and money isn't tied up.
