Commercial Idea

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
That I'd like to create, and send to Full Tilt (Poker online)

I love the full tilt commercials, and I have came up with an amazing idea.

Who do I talk to about this?

I'm gonna create the commercials with some friends, so Full Tilt can see what's going on and what the concept is, so they can make it with THEIR actors/poker pros.

I know this could get on TV, it has such a great concept.

So, what do I do now? I emailed the feedback@fulltilt.com address, but is there a better way to get in contact?

Robbie

copyright it... or protect it somehow.

dont show anyone till you own the concept.

Yeah, I don't see how you could protect it. I think the only real chance you have would be to do it as well as you can on your own and then approach them.

Ideas are a funny thing... odds are if you don't do something with it soon somebody else will.

I used to try to "own" my ideas... thinking I had some unique thought that nobody else would come up with... but it's the reverse lotto... where the odds are in favor of somebody else coming up with a very similar idea sooner or later (most likely sooner).

So yeah... do a script... or possibly try to make your spec commercial and put it on youtube... just to show what you can do... and the type of ideas you have.

I wish I knew somebody who could show me the way to prosperity from ideas... but it's the implementation that matters.

Here's the email I got:

Once you finished the video, we're defenitely interested to see it and definitely advise you to send it to this email address. Of course we actually cannot agree if we will take your business.

Great to hear! Lots of companies are dead set against unsolicited submissions, if they're willing to look at your work it's a great opportunity. Blow them away!

...of course they want to see it, if they like it, they can just steal it!
I'd try to get to a Marketing Manager or Production Manager and meet with them first (in person or via tele-conference). Talk to a real person, not just someone answering your email. See how open they really are to giving your idea a chance. I wouldn't just send it to feedback@fulltilt.com .

Most companies hire an ad agency to handle their creative, you could try to track them down too... learn as much as you can about that company and approach them.

Just be careful Robbie, if the idea is as good as you think, I'd hate to see you get ripped!
Do your homework, knowledge is power and it will impress them to see you've done your research. Best of luck.

Over the course of your career you will get ripped off. It's not optional. And if in fact you don't get ripped off, you will be certain on some occasions that you were.

That's just part of the price of a ticket, to play.

Pretty good post right there max.

That's the red pill... if you want to stay asleep take the blue one and pretend it's not an issue.
