Comments on overexposure?

It's hard to tell which one is which when seen like this. Maybe a split screen view? It seems like the latter overexposures are slightly smoother when going from dark to light when I click between them.

I like 21158 better. Probably the slightly lower contrast. I didn't, however, notice a strong difference in the way it handles highlights.

The one you like has yellow false color near the overexposure region and clips in a way I'm trying to avoid:) It goes from normal color, to yellow, to white.

Comparing the first time the light dimmed up to the last time it did, in that video, I'd say the last had definitely more pleasing highlights (should normal exposure be the quest of the look). There was less blooming and hot white areas. However the last image before the lights dimmed up had a more contrasty start and I did not favor the low-mid exposure ranges. Only when it hit the overexposure did I prefer it over the first image.

I don't know how apparent it is, but the iris almost goes through the entire range of the lens, probably f1.4 to f16. Underexposing 4 or 5 stops will not ride the gamma properly, that's a given. I designed for making a very hot histogram possible without problematic highlights so that 18% grey can be properly exposed without annoying highlights, even in high contrast scenes.
