Hi guys,

First thanks for all the good advises you give on this forum. It's priceless. And Happy Christmas to you all!

I will soon produce a film for a snowboard team, using two cameras. First one shoots HDV/1080i50, 2nd one H264/720p60 and will be used for the slow motion shots. Editing will be with FC Express 4.

Workflow

  1. 720p60 shots will be converted to Apple Intermediate Codec (progressive) and slowed down to 25p with MPEG Streamclip
  2. The HDV 1080i50 will be imported into FCX thru the Apple Intermediate Codec (interlaced)
  3. A 1080i50 timeline will be used for editing
  4. Footage will then be exported as H264 720p25 with the Quicktime Compression option of FCX, with the deinterlacing option enabled (does FCX's deinterlacing at export works well?)

What do you think of this workflow? Destination of this footage is Vimeo. I am especially concerned by mixing interlaced and progressive footage and exporting as progressive. Won't I have the original progressive shots degraded?

Thanks for your help ;-)
