Coming soon

Yeah, I've seen this pop up on other forums, the funny thing is that he asks for advice but doesn't really follow it, the site hasn't changed from the last time I saw it. I agree with coffee, too long to load, Flash splash pages are a thing of the past, and why use Flash when there is no point? Your animation serves no purpose nor does it tell us anything about your site/business so you're putting up useless information and pretty much guranteeing anyone who might give you some business to never come back again.

Make sure you put an option in the beginning to skip the intro because after going back once to your site you aren't going to want to wait

This is only till the site is complete (01.01.07). There have been changes made. It loads in under 5 seconds. I've tested it with lots of different connections. If its taking longer than 5 seconds, than something is wrong on your end. It was made to say "a new beginning", going from night to day --- a fresh look --- It says what I do at the end. Since there will not be any splash page or intro for the main site, this was just for fun till the site was done. No one can wait 5 seconds anymore, even one sec is too long for people. Where is your website oneinfiniteloop?

I was merely giving you my opinion and relaying facts from other forums. If you put your stuff up in a public forum, you should be prepared for honest criticism, good or bad.

In regards to the 5 sec thing, well, back in the day when Flash was the latest trend and it was new and all that, waiting 5 seconds might be reasonable, but in the here and now, you have less that to impress me (and most others) or we'll move on. I'm not being mean, just truthful. You heard coffee, he didn't wait, most won't. People don't care about your animation/splash page/etc, they want content, and if you can't provide that then they move on to places they can get it. Why do you think places like YouTube, etc are popular, they are full of content. In the web 2.0 world content is king, fluff is out.

About my website, well I don't have one right now, not enough good content yet.:) I'm not putting up anything until it's top notch, and when I do it'll be one page, no loaders, no menu's, just one page, a contact link and a reel chock full of good content. But, hey, I'm in this for making a living, so I don't take risks that might make one potential client pass me up. If it's all for fun, then what the hell, put up a cutout of Barbara Bush dancing to Riverdance with elfs patting her on the back, who cares?

may I suggest writing a html script that centers the site? right now it's too big for a lot of monitors and as a result you have to scroll to the right to see it all.

The rolling hills/changing sky stuff strikes me as extraneous - and not sufficiently well-done to wow anybody. Leave that sort of thing to the majors, who (a) have the time and resources to do it right and (b) probably have visitors who are actually interested in spending time watching a big animated thing before entering.

The inclusion of your myspace page, contacts, dating preferences, etc, etc, etc is unprofessional and detracts from the sense that I'm looking at a businesslike presentation by someone who can offer me valuable professional services. When I go looking for a pro to render necessary services, there is nothing less interesting to me, than what music they like, who their casual social contacts are, or what they look for, in a date.

And no, I don't have a page up that I'm presently interested in directing you to look at; if that's a criterion on which you're soliciting advice, you probably shouldn't bother reading this. Whoops - I should have put that at the beginning of the post...sorry.

ps - the spyder 2 arrived today - thanks!
