Raylight Ultra 1.3 will be out in a month or so. This is planned to be a free update.
Right now the main new feature will be direct P2 authoring from the timeline, for all P2 formats including the SD and DVCPROHD formats.
There will be also be two, optional "Power Packs" that will allow for faster AVC-Intra support for both playback and authoring the P2 format. These Power Packs will sell for $50 for the playback option and $100 for the authoring option.
We are licensing the Panasonic AVC codec for this purpose. The main reason for it-- there is an opportunity to sell such systems to news broadcasters that would otherwise need Apple, Adobe, Avid or Edius systems to do quick editing and authoring of P2.
But is there a need for this? What about for filmmakers? Our perception is that the AVC-Intra format has not really gotten started, or its taking a long time to be adopted. Or it's the recession. Who is out there using AVC-Intra? Has it been killed by AVCHD/AVCCAM?
