Comer 1800 LED Light Wattage?

Hey guys -does anyone know what the equivalent wattage output of the Comer 1800 LED light is? I can't seem to find this info anywhere....

Do you mean the equivalent wattage in terms of how many watts of tungsten it would take to get to the level of luminance that the LED puts out? That question doesn't really have any meaningful answer, there are so many factors in determining how bright a fixture is. Wattage is one of them of course, but a 1K PAR will behave completely different from a 1K softlight, as an example (the former probably being around 5 stops brighter with no lens).

It claims to output 1800 LUX at 1 meter, which means about 167 footcandles at 3'3". At 5 feet, you're probably looking at somewhere around 80-90 footcandles, which is about the same as a 200w mini mole fully flooded. The beam on the LED is switchable at either 90 or 45 degrees, the mini mole is about 50 degrees at full flood, but it's an even field of light whereas the LED will probably have a good amount of falloff from the center of the beam. Also, they make no mention of whether or not their figure of 1800 LUX is measured with or without the spot lens.

To quickly sum this all up, get a light meter and test it for yourself.

And on a side note, that mini mole, with barn doors and scrims, could be had for about $150 used and will last you the next 40 years.

i'm in the crowd that just doesn't "get" LED at all. Sure I have a couple portable LED fixtures for some quick and dirty battery powered light, but beyond that they just make no sense to me whatsoever.
