Comedy chase - foo nee stuff

EXT.STREET.DAY

Our hero is chased down the street by a policeman. He sees a flag pole and climbs it as the cop runs by below. Our hero then slides back down and runs off in the opposite direction.

Anyone care to recall their favorite comedy chase scene? I'm doing a short and building upon the shoulders of giants - but there's always room for more silly chase scene ideas (on foot - without cars).

Thx

PS - Any other creative sites to post this request for an idea or two?

The Blues Brothers --- one long continuous hilarious chase scene for the most part! Rocket launcher toting ex gf, nazis, police, rednecks, you name it, everybody chasing the Blues Brothers.

What you've described sounds very Keystone Cops - which is absolutely fine, if that's what you want, it has a look all of its own.

I think the biggest decision is how 'realistic' should it be, would such people really act that way in that real situation? Keystone Cops relies on the Cops being rather dim, for example. In a classic Benny Hill chase scene (and he wasn't the first to do it), everyone is an idiot, the chase makes no logical sense at all.

the blues brothers is a car chase...keystone cops is closer...it's all been done before...

looking for favorites probably spawned by chaplin, keaton, lloyd, laurel and hardy, 3 stooges...

thx

I'm always a sucker for the "escelator chase" scene where the perp races to get on the escelator and then waits patiently on his step while it rises slowly to the top....naturally the pursuer does the same....looks amazing in a long shot.

ha ha...I'm thinking outside chases but that's a good one. I'm reviewing those silent classics now...but there's always room for creativity

The chase through houses from RAISING ARIZONA (which includes dogs) - there's a similar chase, played seriously, in POINT BREAK.
