Combining Z1 and HVX footage in a 720p sequence - or should I direct capture in 1080p

I am shooting a documentary and need to figure out if it is possible to work with both 1080i Z1 footage and 720p footage from my HVX in the same sequence in Final Cut Pro 5.1.2. I don't have access to the Z1 to find out for myself, so does anyone know if this is possible?

I would happily use the HVX for the whole shoot, but I am hampered by the storage issues regarding P2. Essentially, I don't have enough cards (or a firestore) to shoot long interview footage. As such, I am planning to use a Z1 for this part of the shoot, but worry that I'll have major headaches in post...

My alternative is to shoot the interviews as direct captures from the HVX straight into FCP. The problem is, I'm in PAL land, and the main footage has been shot in 720 25pn. The capture presets in final cut do not allow for 720 25p capture. Is there a way around this, or do I have to shoot 1080 25 on the HVX, thus creating a similar headache?

Or should I just use the Z1 for this part? I'd sooner avoid the Z1 as the film is already booked for a festival screening, and I'd sooner keep it in progressive format. As you can see I'm in a quandry here - any help is very welcome!
