COLORISTA-Good, Bad or just OK?

I have a project that is going to be going daily, and will need to CC daily and want to get users feedback on Colorista. I am curious about any limitations(render times, usability, GUI), but i am also very interested in what makes it great. As well how people are calibrating their Apple Cinema Display computer monitor for Web output.
Also are you using Colorista in FCP or in Motion 2?

Recently started digging into it. It works well, a few surprises:

1.) Not realtime in FCP - only in Motion, only up to 720p, frame rate limitations dependent on machine and GPU (I'm on Quad G5 w/7800 card).

2.) Power window style operations are great, but the UI is a bit cumbersome due to limitations of the API in FCP - ideally I'd want to have it be like an oval in Illustrator - click in the middle to drag around, handles on sides to make longer/wider, click/drag around edges to rotate. No such luck, just two points to drag around. At least I can scroll wheel to control some of the UI over in the text area.

3.) No secondaries. Durn. Maybe in a future version?

But it is my presently favorite CC tool for FCP, price is right.

Price apart and following Taylor Moore's concerns and approach (pros & cons), we'd like to hear you on a comparision with the Color Finesse 2 (it seems the Synthetic Aperture product gives you more, like higher realtime etc or am I wrong?):

Hey Taylor, I replied to you on the other thread...colorista is good, but there are other good tools out there too. I 'm using the color slider version, instead of the wheels as I find it easier to control. I'm just finishing a project now, and I have used Colorista, and FCP CC, and a couple of Joe's filters. The beauty of all of this is that you can use all of these things together. It's only 200 bucks...it's not bad for the price. But if you really want to be serious...your going to need a CRT broadcast monitor, otherwise I think it's all a bit worthless.
 
don't have enough info to give an answer I'd be comfy going public with.

I don't calibrate my Cinema Display, other than quickie eyeballing it - I have a CRT I use for color, the Cinema Display is strictly for pixel evaluation.
 
Mike, what do you use as your CRT? Just curious. I have the PVM-14L5, and some people complain "that is too small."

Well, I sit close. And I can't afford the 20L5 so shoo!
