Colored Dots On My F#ing Video!

Hello,

For about five months now, I've been having colored dots (red, green & blue)appear on my MPGs, WMVs and MOVs. They basically appear for a couple seconds, then vanish or reappear in another area. I've narrowed it down to this occuring only when there are dark (black) areas mixed with bright, high contrast areas.

Here are some samples:

These are all animations, but it happens with my live-action films as well. I've been through v. 6.0b, 6.0c & 6.0d and even wiped my system, starting from scratch. No go.

The only thing I can think of that's different about my system since this started happening was I purchased a new video card (eVga GeForce 7800gt). I always install current drivers as they become available.

Anyways, your theories are certainly welcome. I'm all out of ideas on how to fix this.

I'm curious, do they also appear when they (MPG, WMV, etc.) are played on another computer system? If so, in the same spots?

Do those dots appear on the Raw DV? I had one PC that I captured on that caused this to happen, when I recaptured I got dots in different places ( is this what they call dropout? ) Anyways I use another PC for capture now and I have no problems. If this is the same PC you've always used to capture, maybe your hard drive needs defragging? not sure, but worth a try.

edit: oh 'they are all animations'.. so my post doesn't make much sense.

Once it's rendered, they are embedded and everyone sees them. I only get the dots on the files I encode. Everything looks fine until I render...

I can honestly say I've never run across that problem before.
Crap. You were my one big hope with this!
