Color Isolation - Motiontrack

Bag of Douche
I finally got vegas! Wewt wewt!

I've been working on a project, and there are a few things left that I need to figure out, ive read a few tutorials and have used this forum as well, but there are two things I couldn't find too much in depth detailed info on...

Color Isolation - I need to isolate RED and desaturate all else in one shot (and I did through Color Correction Secondary, however, there are some red leaves due to the time of year, and I dont want them to be satured)

Same for yellow, blue, and green... all in different shots ofcourse :)

So all i've heard from other people is i need to use layers to achieve this... ?

Problem 2: I have some footage that I want to put on a Television, as the cam dollies back from the TV, how do i put a clip from my comp in the shot on the TV, and keep it relative to the camera...

All i know is it probably has something to do with Motion tracking...

Ok, that's all for now

Any help from 'teh GuRus" would be awesome...

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

To isolate a color, but not have the effect through the entire image, you need to put a copy of the same footage on a track above and mask out the effect (Bezier Masking in Pan/Crop woiuld be my tool of choice.)

To compsite into a TV, again, Bezier masking. To create motion; keyframe track motion settings.

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

Could elaborate on compositing to a TV? What I did was set both main tracks to 50% opacity, and then keyframed and cropped the footage so it kept in-sync with the TV as the camera zoomed in...

However, it makes everything darker, is there any way to have the 2 tracks be of normal brightness?

Thanks

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

Track one: Image with a Bezier Mask applied over the TV screen in Negative mode.

Track two: The image you want to appear in the masked area.

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

I've been looking for a place to find out "how" to bezier mask, i should have been more clear, tuts anybody?

Also, gary, check out my "chill" thread in DVX footage forum, it has the stuff we've been talkin about...

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

In my Vegas 5 Companion DVD set (see announcement elsewhere on the page), I demonstrate 7 examples of Bezier masking techniques.

Ahah!

Maybe I'll look into that then, because for the life of me I can't find any tutorials on it anywhere...

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

There are tutorials on Bezier Masking on the VASST site, it's in Gary's DVD's, it's in my DVDs, and also Sony has a nice lil' tutorial on their site as well.
But after reading your post, you don't want Bezier masking, you want a color pass.
You can find the article on color pass on the http://www.VASST.com/login.htm site or on the Vegas Channel site. http://vegas.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=27289
Is this what you want to do? Make everything black and white but one color?

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

Yah i found it (tutorial on your site), for the coloration, i was thinking maybe it related to the motiontracking on the TV, but it all worked out :)

Re: Color Isolation - Motiontrack

Glad it worked out for you. Much easier than you thought, eh?
