Color Grading???

I have a little rant. Why is it when people talk about color grading, they almost always say "color correcting" or "CC"? Color correction is when you shoot with the wrong white balance settings or, if you shoot film, shoot tungsten outdoors or daylight indoors. These are times when colors need to be "corrected," you see. However, COLOR GRADING should be the term used when one wishes to alter the colors of the original image. Well, that's all. Shout out if you agree.

haha... I agree, and I try my darndest to call it color grading... but I slip sometimes, as most everyone uses color correction for that term.

There are probably better things to get worked up over. It bugs me when I see apostrophes used incorrectly -- which is a daily experience -- but I don't let it harsh my mellow.

haha Nice one David... yeah if you're "frustrated" about people saying CC or color correction, then... LOL man!

Eh, truth be known I'm at work and bored. I don't have the pleasure of getting to earn money doing something I love. I'm stuck at a computer, nothing to do but hem, haw and complain. Doesn't really bother me that much -

You know what drives me nuts. . . "Good Dof". Depth of field is a focal plane characteristic, it is neither good nor bad. It is shallow or deep, and depending on the situation that can be a good or bad thing but "nice Dof" or "good job on getting some Dof" really just doesnt make any sense, and honestly makes the speaker sound very amatureish. Oh yeah, the color correction thing bugs me as well. :)

Yeah, you're right dude... lol... Saying, nice SHALLOW DOF is a lot different than saying, good DOF... lol

Even worse is people describing to me what they want the shot to look like by saying that "it needs to have depth of field."

Hey, no problem! Done! I'll throw in some framing while I'm at it. No charge! :)

What's even worse than that? Working with a Producer/Director on a corporate video. He tells me, I want this interview set up with really deep depth of field. I was like, well Ok. So I set it up, everything from Seattle to Europe was in focus and he came over to me after looking at the monitor and said, "is it not possible for you to get deep depth of field here? I have worked with other people that can blur out the background, is that not something you can do?" This guy was really freaking snotty and know it all, so I said, "Oh, I'm sorry I thought you asked me to have a really deep depth of field." He said that he did, I looked at him weird and then opened up the iris, and zoomed in a tad, "did you mean more like this? He was like "yeah, just like what I said". From that point on I lost all confidence in that moron and have just avoided working with him since then. It wasn't so much that he didn't know what he was talking about, but that he felt he was such a bad ass producer that no one else could ever be right except for him. Ok, rant over. By the way, yeah I don't like it when people say Color correction :). Wanted to get back on track here.

What bugs me is whenever I ask a question, someone ALWAYS says it is obvious.
When I then ask for them to explain to the forum, in detail, the post is Deleted.
I can see why there are Wars!

I like to say color enhancing when i'm adjusting the color to make it better. I usually end up saying color correction to not confuse people
