Color grading for consumer TVs??

Dark Side of the Camera
I usually grade on a calibrated CRT.

But when I watch the result on a consumer TV set it´s always to contrasty and dark.
Same goes for flatpanel computer monitors.

How do you guys deal with that? CC super flat, for crappy, cheap, uncalibrated panels, with oversaturated factory settings out there?

The easy answer is you don't. I try not to make "grand" color grading exclusively on a calibrated monitor for that reason alone. Sometimes it's a good idea to see how exaggerated your grading will look on a "normal" TV, so I tend to find an even balance between the two.
