Color correction using a HDtv

I have a samsung 21 inch flat screen and a iMac intel computer. Currently I have it hooked it up using Mini DVI to VGA and the colors are way to saturated I tried everything to calibrate it and with no avail. I was wondering if the colors would come out truer to source if i used Mini DVI to DVI to Component.

Consumer HDTV's are not really meant for color correction- hence the inability to get good calibration.

Does your Samsung have a HDMI input? Then go DVI to HDMI. You may not be able to completely color correct properly, but you will eliminate any analog noise.

here's my thread which turned into a thread bout this:

I've gotten very good "have not been surprised yet" results with an HD LCD TV using the huey.

I have a perfectly good LCD computer monitor but chose the HDTV because I figured it would be more like and handle color like a regular TV / be more like what the viewer will be watching on.

The calibration DVD above comes with the blue gel I mention in the other thread and a red and green one two for fine tuning ... I haven't used it yet with my computer but it's another option
