Color Correction Test

Really nice grading. The vignettes were very subtle, infact overall it was quite subtly done. A few shots stood out as being perhaps too contrasty and over saturated compared with the rest of the footage, for example @0:17 (very dark shadowing on the face and the skin is just a little too reddish) and @1:30, although the latter is likely due to metering for the outside sky, making the interior under exposed.

It seemed strange to see such contrast on an overcast day, for a more narrative piece I'd be tempted to go a bit more saturated to add to the feel of the cloudy skies and "bad" light. That's not to fault your grade, it's more my personal opinion. :P

Thanks, I'm going to be using the vinette technique a bit differently in my next short. This video let me get some fundamentals down thought. We are filming next week, so I'll post it up when I finish. @0:17 is too dark; I agree. @1:30 I blasted the whites and then used a feathered vinette around the freshener to try and control some of the sky. I actually recolor corrected them and had reposted the video with different music/alpha fades/music fades/and text, but I found a way to use the original music, so I deleted the updated one because I prefer the old music. I would redo the changes I made before, but honestly this was just an exercise, and I don't want to take the time to make it look perfect. I'm glad you enjoyed the look though.

Exactly, the more you practice, the better you'll get. Plus it gets boring working on the same couple minutes of footage over and over :P

I look forward to seeing your next movie. Good luck!
