Color Correction Monitor

that was the monitor i was looking at before i decided to go with an HD monitor instead... now i'm using a JVC DT-V20L1U being fed by an Intensity Pro card in my Mac Pro. it fits my needs right now and was under $1300.

I'm still shooting SD, so I have no use for an HD monitor (or do I?). I'll probably go HD in the next 2 years. I'd just run from the Mac Pro to the monitor via my capture deck (Pano GS-500), correct?

you can do that with only DV footage. also, your footage gets compressed to DV going out to the camera. with the Intensity card (or any other I/O) you get an uncompressed signal. when working with gfx and color correction, this is very important. are you using Final Cut Studio 2? Color won't send a video signal to a DV cam.

Very good to know, since I am using FCP2. What other options are there besides Intensity? I'm assuming I/O = Input/Output

I'm only making DVDs, nothing for broadcast. From what I've read, this makes a difference. Basically, all I want to do is expand the tiny preview screen in the upper left.

No, it doesn't make a difference if its for broadcast or not... if you color correct according to broadcast standards the footage will look correct on any output format. that's the point of having a standard.

the intensity is the least expensive option. others include the matrox mxo/mxo2, an aja kona card, aja ioHD, or a blackmagic decklink card.
