Color Correction Film Look vs Default Setting using Canon IXUS 220 HS

Interesting.

You've made a little girl look like she was in 21 Grams. Argumentatively, the original footage looks more like negative film, than your CC'd version. That looks like skipped bleach reversal or something.

What is the point you are trying to make with this? To my eye (except for the flares), the original footage looked a lot better than the "corrected" version -- but I suspect that's just because I don't understand the intention of it.

It's not immediately evident through the video what you're demonstrating. To my eye, the corrected footage looks sharper and ultra-contrasty - not a look I'd be inclined to use for a little girl playing in the park. I think the original footage + some color work would have been fine, leaving the contrast and definition alone.

...Sorry. Not a fan of the over-used "green/blue bleach" technique, it's been done to death, and I see people using it with no rationale as to WHY they are using it. It's become the video equivalent to the "star" filter that amateur still photographers used to like.

This was my first attemp at colour correction. Do you think I should've used a much softer look and feel to it? This clip is actually part of my longer promo http://youtu.be/gJbM8B8Q8bw?hd=1

There is sort of convention about color/look and subject matter. We have come to see 'bleach by pass' as a 'gritty' story indicator, perhaps a horrific 'altered state' indicator, etc... not sweetness and everything nice...

I would think for children, girls, pastels would be good, in terms of showing a grading... if one wanted something different from the 'kodachrome' saturation...

On the other hand, you could show the girls in saturated colors, and then a bunch of boys in 'gritty reality bleached desaturation'... plotting to take over the play ground and rule the world...

I would think for a product demo, you'd want the footage to look as clean and realistic as possible -- even the "Kodachrome look" would have been appropriate for this. (Think about the photos Kodak and other camera/film manufacturers use to advertise their products -- the focus is always crisp, the colors warm and vibrant.) This kind of goes in the opposite direction from what I think would make me feel good about the product; everybody looks vaguely zombie-ish here.

Kinda reminds me of a horrifc flash back moment. Like when the zombies run out and eat the little girls brains, though i would slide more into the red for the zombie entry.

This look might work for Radioactiveland, the new nuclear powered wonderland. ;)

...Yes, mighty fine eatin' those babies. :-)

If you're after a grungy look, then it's definitely a start, but I would try to make it your own. The bleach green thing has been done to death, so see if you can cook up something different.
