color correcting

i just got a mac and final cut pro. ive used it a good bit but never color corrected anything before. i dont really understand what it is or how you do it, does anyone have some tutorials or a website showing some steps on what you do? or ill try to just play around with it in FCP, what do i do? add an effect to the video clip and tweak what settings? sorry for being so dumb, im self taught
