Does anyone happen to know what plus green gel is best for correcting 3200k lights to the greenish tinge some flourescent lights tend to give off? I tried a 1/8 plus green, but it didn't seem to be enough??

What did you do for white balance--before or after the gelling? I think its that that may be getting you.

I gelled the light and then manually white balanced using a piece of white posterboard. Yet the the light is clearly a different color temperature. (too warm compared to flou)

I would try to white balance before the gel with normal light. Then add the gel. You want the green effect so what's happening is that your correcting it all out by doing a normal white balance. But I wonder if a better way to do all this wouldn't be just shoot with normal lights, etc. and then color correct in you NLE to the look your trying to establish. Also, the 1/8 + may not be enough either to get the effect your looking for. All the more reason to just try to color correct to get your look.

Thanks for the reply; I would color correct in post, but I often times shoot in places such as stores & schools where they can't turn off the overhead flourscent lights, so I am get mixed light color temps, which will make parts of the scene always the wrong color. I guess you are probably right about getting the right gel, do you happen to know which plus green gel is appropriate for most of these greenish flou lights you find in stores, schools, etc.?

I've never actually tried to duplicate the effect you're talking about but I am sure there are other posts on this forum from the past that did. Try a search if you haven't already. If I had to guess though, I'd say at least 1/2 Plus Green.
