Can someone help me with this?
I'm trying to use Color Curves, someone told me once that it can be very helpful. I just can't seem to get it right... I'm not sure exactly what to change.

I've tried getting the "S" formation with the line but I can't seem to do it.

Also, what setting are most critical?
Black level, white level, HSL... ?

ANY help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mike

i use pp2.0 now but in pp1.5 things are quite different.

when i used pp1.5, generally i used pedestal, gamma, and gain as my blacks, mids, and whites.

so i crush the blacks a tad, bring up the whites, and lower the mids depending on the image i want.

anything that is alreayd over exposed, i have no problem with in pp2, because generally video whites are too bright, and i dull them down with the leveler. not sure how to go about that in pp 1.5

Kyser...what are you trying to do to your footage?

To boost underexposed footage, try the Color Corrector. Drop it on your clip. Then, in the EFFECTS tab, open up the CURVES drop down box. Then, towards the upper portion of the diagonal line, click on it with your mouse. This should create a tab for you to pull or drag. Only move it up and to the left slightly and you will see some dramatic results! But, if you want to do something other than bring underexposed levels up...what are you trying to do?

PaPa...I have 1.5. Is 2.0 worth the upgrade or are you not familiar with 1.5?

Thanks!

Rick

2.0 is definitely a step up from 1.5. Better 24p support, HD support, additional color correcting tools, improved interface. Personally I don't think there's any one revolutionary feature that sets it apart, but it's the many little improvements that make it hard to go back to 1.5.

I just hear about everyone making CC adjustments. I'm just trying to figure out how, and what I can do to really make the image shine.

The "S" in color curves seems to always come up.

Mike

i personally find the curve is very much less effective than using numbers to adjust. Curves seem to be approximations, you do it untill you find something that looks nice, but tweaking it is so sensitive. In pp2, using the levels ot adjust it is justt hat much nicer.
