I was wondering if anyone knows what is the difference between color correcting in Avid MC, Premiere, and FCP vs doing it in a stand alone suites like Color Finesse or Magic Bullet Colorista. I assume it's because you can work in 16 bit or 32bit float in the stand alone ones and the NLE do not offer it... or am I mistaken.
Does it matter if you're working with a higher quality formate like DVCPro HD in a NLE. Would color correcting natively in a high quality format in your NLE reduce the degradation effect or does the NLE still us 8bit color on that too. I'm so paranoide right now that I try to do all my color corrections in After Effects so I can work in a 16 bit enviornment. This question has been bugging me for awhile now so if anyone knows the answer, it would take a load off my brain. Thanks guys.
